Without loss, love is nothing.
Think For Joe

Lets think that if Sandusky was considered Joe Paterno’s likely successor until 1999… then Sandusky retired. There was one obvious thing that Joe Paterno did; he stayed head coach for longer not wanting to relinquish the stake he had in the school. His control over what he could make right; knowing the majority of what the BOARD didn’t handle properly. when you work in cooperation with many people regularly for long periods of time you develop trust, Paterno’s trust was violated too. (I know that’s terrible to make even reference of the two being comparable)

If he left and tried to break this scandal and it wouldn’t break, then where would he be? Just an old legend, retired and on the short end of the stick with no stake in what was/is being controlled by the same people who did an inadequate job morally handling their obligations. Everyone, the other people who knew to the Police to the Board to employees, Joe stayed where he could carry ground.

A minute

There is no minute better spent than a minute that is a gamble, when the pay off of that gamble could be a memory but the the cost of it being lost is simply the time.

Your whine, My fiddle

Give me a minute friend,

I won’t be long,

here’s a rebirth,

I know it’s been long,

Just take a second,

oh quickly they say,

tell me of this so that I may,

Of this i know that we need one,

that people must love and have fun,

of this I know that life is too short,

to cry and to talk as if life was the sort,

to convince you of selfish when it proves so little,

truth in this… your whine and my fiddle

Recent global population growth estimates (10 billion by 2100, anyone?) plus slowing annual increases in agricultural yields have a lot of analysts worried that many of those new people will suffer from chronic hunger – and that much of the land that hasn’t been converted to agriculture will be plowed under to grow crops.

But a new study in the journal Nature argues that we can feed the world’s growing population without destroying the planet… if we make major adjustments now in agricultural and consumption practices and patterns. (Hey, if it were easy, we’d already be there, right?)

Based on new data about the Earth’s agricultural lands and crop yields, the study offers some core strategies to meet future food production needs and environmental challenges. Those strategies include:

  • Stop farming in places like tropical rainforests, which have high ecological value and low food output;
  • Improve crop yields in regions of Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, where farmland isn’t meeting its potential;
  • Change farming practices to better manage water, nutrients, and chemicals;
  • Shift diets away from meat; and
  • Stop wasting food (up to 1/3 of all food grown is wasted either in production, transport, or after purchase).

Taken together, these strategies could lead to 100-180 percent more food available for consumption and sustain the lakes, rivers, forests, and soil that food production depends on.

I really liked something Jon Foley said in the interview:

Can we do it? We have to – it’s absolutely necessary. It’s up to us to decide what’s politically feasible. We can change how we govern, tax, ship, produce, etc. What we can’t change are the laws of physics.

Definitely read this.

Come gather ‘round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside
And it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin’
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’.

Well…
What is truely around

At this current moment in time I am sitting surrounded by a home.. In that home…just living room. I am surrounded by no lie, think about it.. probably the same for you, countless and I mean countless corporations. I challenge you to think relative. From the tv (1) to the brand of area rug(3). The brand of couch(1) to the brand of paper plate(1). Golf Balls (5). Fishing stuff (20). Automobile (1+adds and representative whole= at least 150). Clothing (26). The xbox(1) super nintendo (1.. games rough estimate. not sure) The games (probably at least 10, maybe more). Paper towels (1) Entertainment system (1) Beer (2) Soda (1) Gold fish crackers (1) Cvs (1) Bucky Balls (1) Towel (2) Checkers (1) Boy Scout popcorn (1 manufacturer) Cd (3 packager, recorder, case) tool kit (1) Flashlight (2) Disney (1) Sharper image (1) Ovation Guitar (1) Lp Bongos (1) Sunbeam Iron (1) Board (1) Blankets (3) Pillows (2) Light bulbs (2) Toy Helicopter (1) Franks Red Hot (1) Pen (4) Cigs (2) Kirkland (1) Shoes (4) Logic Ipod Speakers (1) computers (2) Wine Opener (1) Physical Games (4) Colgate (1) Shoe Polish (3) Hat (4) Compressed Air (1)… So thats like 290, potentially probably more. A very rough estimate, more than likely a lot higher.. This is just the tip of the iceberg of how surrounded we are.

Not saying that we shouldn’t have companies or products. We just can’t keep thinking everything can remain this cheap. We have to figure out what we can creatively do for ourselves and each other that isn’t the start of the next big company. Because most of the ideas and companies of things we need are already completely calculated and there by devalued.

They keep making money, because they keep pushing things on us. Yes, that are cheap and affordable.. but that are all an interest based game of how much each one can make on how much coin they give. So the cheaper a resource at the bottom the more money at the top.. We devalue business/workers/laborers/ resources/ animals/ skill/ trades/ land all the way up so there is more coin each time it is flipped. So… what does that mean.

To keep getting stronger.. In order to do this the bottom/middle/fundamental elements (us) of a product (we buy) or business (we work for) have to lessen in price to make more money at the top, to keep sustaining growth or current business. So basically someone invests by giving us a paycheck or paying for resources, on the prospect of the interest (money made off of the initial cost/investment). All the while our dollars we spend supporting this, supports others like us.. yes and its one big circle. But.. you are forgetting the interest.

This isn’t just man power. We see this in resources and the growing awareness behind clean water, air, soil and health factors. Shouldn’t our environment we were created in be the healthiest one for us?

Harder better faster stronger is the focus when life should be the focus. Sharing a quality of life. Not overworking things. You can only make things so cheap, so accessible. Its all on a big bell curve.

We are overworked and the profit of our work went up to the top.

Support local farms, local business, local neighbors… your community. anyone and everyone you can connect with directly. Volunteer, offer services.. this will all go full circle.

People grab your family, friends, your neighbors, your community, your state, your country. Give, borrow, share, trade, help, care, aid, support, exchange, barter, fix, refinish… all of these and even random acts of kindness will be shown back to you. But what happens is you end up supporting and sustaining directly everyone, more often than not where it is needed most. And we support the middle again.

Things will gain value again, because it doesn’t have to go through 12 hands that make money all the way up off of overworked people and starved resources till it gets to you or your community. it had to go from my hands to your hands. There is no middle man. Its me and you… there isn’t even any tax. but it values what we have again. Lets start by helping people get what they need and recreating our own unique abilities as a species for ingenuity. There is a reason we can grown, fix, build, nourish, feed and understand. We are helpers… the most supreme of pack animals and we do not have everything the big animals have, but between each other we do.

Our pack is hurting right now. A small percentage of the pack controls most everything and also things we need. What the pack needs to realize is, it doesn’t need everything.

If we help each other and do the best to help the members of the “pack” and show the small percentage that we care more about sharing and each other, we devalue all of what they have until it meets its real human value. All the while we are sharing and helping each other sustain, thereby not hurting anyone and helping others by nature.

We cannot break their money but we can begin at the spirit of how it is made and how we are all apart of the health in which our economic system drives. We are the engine, without us the car is worthless.. lets see how many of us we can move by ourselves.. no engine power, human power.

This is just a start but it will allow all of us to begin to asses and value our needs without the confusion of waste clogging up the social senses. We will begin to very sustainably integrate life into simplicity providing the same quality of life.  We will be able to rely on each other, smile and look upon one another as equals, as part of a planet… an element that can change and move with mass effect on our environment and ourselves. We are either the helpers or the users who abuse our power of choice.

Every generation needs a good revolution

Naturally every person desires to work according to his abilities in this world, but it follows from this that he wishes to develop his abilities in a particular direction, namely, in that which is best suited to him as an individual. But what is that? Here I am confronted with a big question mark. Here I stand like Hercules -not at the crossroads-no, but at a multitude of roads, and therefore it is all the harder to choose the right one. Perhaps it is my misfortune in life that I am interested in far too many things rather than definitely in any one thing. My interests are not at all subordinated to one but are all coordinate.
